Salamanca has some excellent municipal sports facilities, sixteen in total, consisting of sports halls and swimming pools.
There are two additional university sports centres where sports enthusiasts can train and practice the sport of their choice.
These are complemented by a further 14 private gyms.

First opened to coincide with Salamanca being the European Capital of Culture, the "Sánchez Paraíso" sports centre has motivated many inhabitants of Salamanca to join the growing number of sports enthusiasts thus promoting a healthy change of daily routine.
The sports centre consists of:

The fitness room has a professional sports monitor on hand to offer users advice and explain the correct use of the equipment and to guide them through a training programme based on the particular goals they wish to achieve: and if they so wish, a routine can be set up that can be periodically revised with the user to check if they are getting their desired results.

The Sánchez Paraíso sports centre offers swimming lessons for its members.
All courses last a semester, the first one October-November-December, the second one January-February-March, and the final one April-May-June; swimming sessions take place midweek (excluding public holidays).

Family, cultural, language learning, gastronomic and conference tourism are all part of the market that the city of Salamanca has been focusing its efforts in recent years.
