On April 3rd and 5th, 2009, Salamanca was host to the Euroleague Women’s Final Four. The maximum organisation for international basketball (the FIBA) decided that the Final Four, after two years in Russia, should go to Spain.
The team from Salamanca, PerfumerÃas Avenida, Spartak Moscow (Russia), UMMC Ekaterinburgo (Russia) and MKB Euroleasing made up the Final Four.
More than 5,000 spectators filled the terraces of the SÃ¡nchez ParaÃso Sports Complex. The women’s team from Salamanca won the semifinal against the Hungarian team MKB Euroleasing.
Spartak Moscow won the final of the Euroleague on April 5th.
