Salamanca has a new Assistance and Information Office for Students of Spanish, the first city-run office of its kind in Spain. The opening of the office marks the next stage in the city's endeavour to position Salamanca as THE point of reference when it comes to learning Spanish.
There have been assistance and information offices for international students in other cities in the past but these have always been run by the Universities themselves and have been aimed solely at university exchange students and university students living and studying away from home.
The information point is located next door to the Municipal Tourist Office at number 19 of Salamanca’s renowned Plaza Mayor. There, foreigners studying Spanish, both university students as well as those attending private language academies and schools, will receive student-focused information about the city as well as assistance with any administrative matters. At the office, as well as having a permanent member of staff waiting to assist them, visitors will be able to pick up helpful information leaflets covering topics such as student visas, health services, exchange rates … as well as information about personal safety in the city, public transport and cultural activities.
